Some of this post is copied from a new section of Mike Salvi's World in the tab bar above called "Health" which I started half for you and half for me. For me, by posting a health section on the site, it tends to hold me accountable in a way since I'm telling the universe how I maintain my spacesuit.
Needless to say there are countless exercise routines, and as long as you do them, they work. However, I'm sharing some of what I've made part of my routine because it's relatively simple, and due to what I've been doing I feel great. So here's my way of paying it forward.
First up on the menu is kettlebell training. This will undoubtedly kick the living shit out of you. While that might not be the best selling point, it's a fact. And like my friend, martial arts school owner, and soon to be podcast guest Aaron Morris said the other day, there's no way in the world that you can expect to get great results without putting in real effort. I tend to agree, and I'm of mind that the more you put into something, the more you get out.
Of all the different routines I've done in my life, kettlebell training has demanded the most from my body, and the pendulum has swung in the opposite direction with the same force when it comes to rewards.
If you're looking for a way to get motivated to improve your health, I can't help you. The motivation is on you. If, however, you're looking for a simple but intense workout, kettlebells are the way to go. I don't do gyms, I'm not a runner, and I'm not into spending tons of money on crazy looking equipment that has no business being in my house.
I'm all about simplicity, and you can't get much more simpler than a cannonball with a handle. So here's my advice, do your homework, decide what you think will work for you, but if you want a workout that encompasses your whole body, get yourself a decent kettlebell.
There are tons of gyms, especially MMA facilities that offer kettlebell classes, but if your schedule is as bonkers as mine, you might want to consider ordering DVD's or downloading training videos.
Well guess what Mike Salvi's World has done for you? That's right, we've decided to offer you the chance to purchase hardcopy DVD sets and instant download kettlebell training videos brought to you by Mr. Badass himself, Steve Maxwell.
