MSW Newsletter - Stories of Interest 7/31/12

It's been quite a summer so far, and if 2012 is to be our last summer together as living beings, I can't say I have many regrets. This has been an amazing summer for TFP, the r3VOLution, and just overall raising the level of consciousness and awareness. I've made and upheld a personal commitment to my health, my sphere of influence has gotten bigger, and my circle of friends has grown tighter, in short, it's been awesome over here in my world.

I'm going to assume you've read most of the major headlines over the past few weeks, and point out just a handful of stories that caught my attention, check them out. In addition, pay attention to upcoming events, most notably TFP LIVE!!! Lastly, have yourself a few minutes of laughter courtesy of Duncan Trussell in this edition's "video of interest," enjoy!

Take notice to the picture of Tommy Chong below. If you haven't heard, Tommy was diagnosed with prostate cancer earlier this year, he treated it with hemp oil, and on July, 15 2012, he told the world via Twitter, that he is 99% cancer free thanks to hemp oil. Word Tommy Chong, word.

Anaheim police block protesters from Disneyland; 9 arrested
Nine people were arrested Sunday during protests over recent fatal officer-involved shootings in Anaheim. The protest took a dramatic turn when the crowd began marching en masse on Harbor Boulevard, saying they were headed to Disneyland. But police in riot gear corralled them, and many returned to police headquarters. The demonstration stretched long into the afternoon, with more than 200 protesters initially chanting in front of police headquarters and taking over a parking lot where they drew chalk outlines of bodies and wrote messages condemning the police.

City Shuts Down 13-Year-Old's Hot Dog Stand
An enterprising teenager in Michigan is laughing all the way to the bank after his city shut down his hot dog cart. Nathan Duszynski, 13, was selling franks in downtown Holland, MI. City zoning laws don't allow food trucks to compete with restaurants so he had to close up shop. A packaging company heard about the boy's troubles and bought the truck for $2,500. That's a lot more than Nathan paid for it.

A Florida airboat captain was arrested Friday on charges of feeding the alligator that chomped off his right hand. Wallace Weatherholt faces a second-degree misdemeanor charge for an alleged act that might have provoked the attack, the Fort Myers News-Press reported. The 63-year-old lost his hand on June 12 when a 9-foot alligator jumped out of the water in the Everglades and sunk its teeth into Weatherholt's wrist.

A recent study found 8-second bursts of sprinting followed by 12-second recovery phases for a total of 20 minutes, three times a week, helped men lose as much as four pounds of visceral belly fat in just three months. This is the type of fat associated with heart disease.
